China is a country with the largest population in the world. Despite being a minority, Muslims in China still exist. According to wikipedia, the number of Muslims in China to 23 million Muslims or 1.7% of the total population. With a population of Muslims as much as it was, China also have thousands of mosques. But of the many existing mosques, there are some the largest mosque and have historical significance. Here are the 4 largest Mosques has long a history in China.


1. Niujie Mosque
Niujie Mosque, Beijing - China

Niujie Mosque is a historical mosque located in Beijing, China. The mosque has undergone a major renovation and expansion of the number of times it is the Muslim community center of Beijing totaling reach 200 thousand inhabitants. The architecture shows a mixture of typical Chinese-Islamic design. The largest mosque in Beijing is also the starting point of Islam in China

The muslim place of worship was first built during the Liao dynasty at 907-1125. The mosque has undergone three renovations since the founding of the Republic of China in 1949, respectively in 1955, 1979 and 1996. The area is filled with shops that sell Muslim cuisine by a seller who wore white caps. Named Niujie because residents in the area sell halal cuisine, especially the beef then called Niujie or "Street Beef". The mosque has become one of the tourist destinations.


2. Id Kah Mosque

The complex's mosque is located in Kasghar, Xinjiang Province, China. The mosque's architecture shows a very strong Islamic style accompanied by love-love. 3. The Great Mosque of Dongguan

The Great Mosque of Dongguan is located in Xining, Qinghai province, China. The architecture of the mosque is a combination of traditional Chinese and local style. It is shown with some ornamentation in the mosque. The mosque has large spaces for prayer that can accommodate 3,000 worshippers. Dongguan great mosque, now have an education centre and the institutions of Islam.

Built in the 14th century and has colorful white arches along the outside of the building. It has green and white dome and two minarets tall. General Ma Bufang and Ma Qi dominated Mosque Dongguan when they served as the military Governor of Qinghai.


4. Great Mosque of Xi'an

Xi'an Mosque is a mosque located in the city of Chang'an, which is now known as the city of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. This is the largest mosque in China and one of the most important in China.

The construction of the mosque began in 742 and is built with a combination of Chinese architectural tradition and Islam. The great mosque was built in honor of the spreaders of Islam in China. Since then, many mosques were established in China.

The majority of the mosque was built during the early Ming dynasty. It now houses more than twenty buildings in its five courtyards, and covers 12,000 square meters. The mosque of Xi'an, the last time in the reconstruction in the 18th century CE, following the architecture of China.
